Another promising week looked on the cards for the anglers on the river banks as conditions were very favourable during the early part of the week, bream again showing at ten mile on Monday and Tuesday also skimmers roach and tench were all reported during early weekday sessions, Tench showing to near 7lb from the Browns farm stretch, Bream showing well downstream from the Wissey Mouth and also at the chapel, roach nets reported at Modney Bridge to Danby. All methods seemed to be finding their targeted species, caster, maggot hemp all finding the roach and skimmers, corn and worm finding both the bream and tench. Then came the strong north easterly winds on Thursday also bringing a deluge of rain and gusting winds to over 35 mph, sadly this put pay to any anglers braving the conditions during a wet dismal weekend, of the anglers that did brave the winds no reports have been received. Middle Level has seen a slow down during the last few weeks with anglers finding the fish hard to come by, no reports have been received from any hot spot on the normally prolific level. Tottenhill, anglers again stayed away at the weekend all though a few did venture out and were rewarded with a few fish, carp to 6lb showing on corn and bream to 5lb showing on pellet, even the roach have been taking a liking to both pellet and corn. Shepherds Port, another venue affected by the weather as anglers stayed away during a dull weekend, catches were showing well during the early part of the week with skimmers roach and rudd feeding strongly during the first part of the week even a carp to 11lb 4oz was reported on Tuesday from Shepherds Lake, not the biggest reported of the season but getting very close. Bear lake a quiet week with not many anglers around, so no reports have been received.
