Many anglers gathering on the banks at both Tottenhill and Shepherds port, all claiming very enjoyable and rewarding sessions during some very warm days. Tottenhill, been very busy during the last seven days with all anglers finding the fish, 100 lb plus nets have been recorded on five separate occasions with the carp feeding very strongly during the first five days of the week. Catches started to deteriorate during late Friday and Saturday as the carp and bream started to spawn again so anglers were finding the bites hard to come by. Bream to 5lb have been showing all week on both feeder and pole lines, but no stand alone bait has been drawing the bream to the swims, Corn , pellet and even maggot has been tempting the bream. Biggest carp reported during the last week has been recorded at 15lb 9 oz. Again all methods working well when the fish are feeding but corn, pellet and paste finding the better fish. Shepherds Port, Shepherds Lake another very busy venue during the last 7 days as anglers took to the banks, Nets to 67lb have been reported with bream and carp being the bulk of the nets also skimmers to nearly 3lb showing at regular pegs on the lake, All methods working well on this popular venue as catches are continuing to rise, (well ahead of catch rates from last year.) with the bigger carp also beginning to feed strongly . Biggest carp reported this week is just over 15lb. Silvers also showing well with nets of just roach and rudd showing to near 17lb. Bear Lake, started the week well with catches recorded from all over the lake carp to 7lb showing on the pole line and on small method feeders.smaller carp favouring the comfort of the island but have been tempted away whilst presenting a single grain of corn or 6mm soft pellets on the hook fishing tight to the island. Ken Hill, attracting a fair few anglers of late all reporting steady catches of roach and rudd, early morning sessions have been finding the odd tench to 3lb. No net weights have been received. At last the river men are starting to blow the cobwebs off there tackle in preparation for the new season which is fastly approaching. All the rivers are showing encouraging signs with many fish topping and feed bubbles being sighted.
