The fish at Shepherds seem to be responding to the bait going in as plenty of fish showing during the first two weeks of the new season, as the milder temperatures are becoming more stable and night time frosts are finally  disappearing, water temperatures are starting to climb allowing the fish to become more active. Local Rod Steve Wheelan claimed the first ton up net with a mix of carp ,bream and a couple of roach, other anglers have also enjoyed some good early sessions with nets over 50lb recorded on Shepherds Lake, If the silver fish are your targeted species then this is your lake with nets of just roach and rudd reported to near 15lb, all methods working well with pole anglers finding the silvers and the odd carp at 8m, tip anglers also reaping the rewards with carp and bream showing at 20m from the far side of the lake. all methods are suited on this very pleasurable mixed fishery.

Queens Lake, a few anglers about during the opening weeks of the season.  bream showing well with fish to 6lb reported also the odd carp showing with one being caught at just over 10lb,
This lake is normally known for the bream with some good sized slabs reported throughout the season, but the carp have also started to show on a regular basis. feeder and method feeders work well also waggler tactics do also find the fish.
Bear Lake, A normally prolific little carp water with fish ranging from a pound up to nearly double figures, all methods work well but pole anglers do have the better advantage by placing baits tight to the island on the shelf, sweetcorn and pellet are the better baits to try early on in the season but carp can be caught on other baits such as meat and maggot and worm, early indications that a few fish have been responding to the corn and pellet, Anglers have been catching quite steadily although no big nets have yet been reported.
Ken Hill Lake, a canal style venue which holds a variety of fish. Roach, rudd and tench are the most targeted species, early reports have been encouraging with the 3 main species showing.
No net weights have been received although reports have been coming forward. As the weather improves cars will be allowed down onto the banks but at this present time it is unsafe to take cars down as the ground is still very soft.
