22-Apr

The work at Tottenhill is now complete and the grass has started to grow. There are good signs of fish movement as the lillies start to show and with the water levels reasonable things are looking good for the opening on the 29th May.   Take a look at the latest pictures in the gallery.

Current state of platforms

KLAA have agreed to a major refurbishment of the existing wooden platform structures, replacing them with a much more flexible design which will enable improved fishing access to cope with the varying water levels and provide additional bank stabilisation. It is also good news that the water level has finally risen by around 150 mm, following the last month of either frozen or wet snowy weather.  Click here for pictures

Existing Platform Design

As can be seen from the diagram left, the previous platforms were subject to continuous bank erosion issues causing the platforms to become unstable. With the current water levels causing even more problems as the rear of the platforms became detached from the bank in a number of swims.

 New Platform Design

The new platform design will be built in three tiered layers or steps, with each step being 120cm by 120cm square.

A total of 40 fishing swims are being built to the new design with the associated bank profiling and reseeding of grass in readiness for the new season.

It is also planned for one of the swims to have an additional top rail and be of a single layer design, without steps thereby providing improved facilities for the disabled. New Timber Arrives at Tottenhill

With this and the associated electrical supply activities being completed in the next couple of months, hopefully everything will be completed in readiness for the new season and represents a ₤20,000 investment by the Association in the venue for the future.

We can only apoligise for the need to keep the venue closed whilst this work is completed and the banks allowed to stablise with new grass.
