Not many anglers about during the last week, but of those hardy anglers around a few fish were caught on both the level and Ten Mile Bank.
Middle Level: Few anglers about but Neeps still attracting the odd angler and the fish did show, with skimmers and roach being the main targeted species. Nets to 10lb were reported, feeder attracting the better fish with single hook baits for best results. The flow on the water has been increasing due to heavy rainfalls, also there is a colour to the water. Ten Mile: Modney is the favoured stretch, along with the chapel. Fish have been reported from both venues, with the odd bigger fish showing. Skimmers roach and perch, plus the odd tench to 4lb from the inside margins. Little Ouse: Continues to improve and fish starting to move away from the bridge. Nets to 16lb, with the first 20lb net recorded at the weekend. Hemp and tares, starting to find the bigger fish, but pinkie and maggot attracting more fish. As the ground bait break up,the fish are feeding just off the feed. Old Bedford: A few predator anglers around during the last week. KLAA member Chris Bailey found both zander and pike, having some big doubles and catching well recently. Shepherds Port: Bear Lake but a handful of anglers around on Shepherd's. Roach, skimmers and rudd still showing on the pole lines, but feeder lines have started to get very slow with little response. Nets more than 9lb the average with silvers dominating. Notice SOME fish are still being removed from KLAA waters and anglers are reminded that if they see anything suspicious, that they report this to either the Environment Agency or report directly to the hotline. These waters need protecting. The KLAA would like to take this opportunity to wish all its members a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Match booking THE KLAA Christmas predator match will take place on the Ten Mile Bank stretch of the Great Ouse, on Sunday. It is to be a roving match, using deadbaits and lures only. There is a £200 winner-takes-all cash prize for highest weight, a £50 cash prize for the biggest individual predator in relation to the current British record and other tackle prizes. Depending on prize donations, a tackle auction in aid of the Macmillan Nurses charity may take place at the prizegiving. The entry fee is £10 per person.
