Due to last weeks weather, conditions became unfishable on most venues around the KLAA region, Very windy conditions and heavy rainfall put pay to most anglers during a torrid week. Only the very brave ventured out as conditions changed throughout the week for the worse. The sun did make a brief appearance but winds gathered to nearly 35mph blowing right across the fens. Middle Level, this venue was completely affected by the winds and some anglers took to the rods but with very little success, only a small minority of anglers did manage to snare a fish or two, roach still showing around Neepes, also the odd perch showing on the worm or double red maggot. All other venues on the level were struggling to find any fish. Ten Mile Bank, rather the same story as the Level, with the conditions proving to keep anglers away, some anglers around Modney bridge were lucky enough to find a few roach and skimmers, during the week, The Chapel area seemed to pick up at the weekend with a few fish being reported by the odd angler. Little Ouse, a few anglers about at the weekend but quite quiet during the week, at last the fish now seem to be shoaling up around the bridge area, with catches up to 18lb reported. Roach, dace and rudd being the bulk of the nets with a few little chublets as a bonus. Pole anglers and whip anglers benefiting most. Pinkie, and maggot over a ground bait with the fish just feeding off the feed. Shepherds Port, probably the quietest week of the season so far with only a couple of anglers about during the week both anglers still catching well. Match Date. We would like to announce the KLAA Christmas predator match, to take place on the Ten Mile Bank stretch of the Great Ouse, on Sunday December 20th. It is to be a roving match, using deadbaits & lures only. There is a £200 winner take all cash prize for highest weight, A £50 cash prize for the biggest individual predator in relation to the current British record, + other tackle prizes & hopefully, dependent upon prize donations we will be running a tackle auction in aid of the Macmillan nurses charity at the prize giving. There will be a basic predator tackle & bait stall + hot refreshments the draw. The entry fee is £10 per person. Junior news, The juniors are in action again this weekend in the 4th round of the east coast winter league, the venue has been changed due to lack of fish showing on any of the Boston drains so a long trek ahead for the juniors who now have to travel to the other side of Lincoln to a new venue, hopefully keeping up the form which they have maintained during the first three rounds. |
