Some encouraging signs on the rivers during the last week as anglers found the fish both on Ten Mile and the Middle Level, also good reports of decent nets to well over double figures coming from the winter venue the Little Ouse. Middle Level, fish showing at some of the favoured hot spots during the last week, Peters, a few anglers about during the week , skimmers and roach showing on the pole line, feeder line not producing as it was as the fish have moved closer to the bank. Neepes, plenty of skimmers showing on both the feeder and the pole lines , The waggler also producing plenty of roach and skimmers, seed baits and maggot for best results. Morton's - Crooked Chimney also a few anglers about during the week but winds and rain at the weekend kept the anglers away. a few tench and perch showing along with roach to 8oz on the pole and skimmers to nearly 2lb showing on the tip. Pingle also had a few anglers about on the bank this week with reports of roach, skimmers, tench and perch showing, all methods finding the fish. Plenty of predator anglers about this week but no reports have been received . Ten Mile Bank. Modney Bridge- Chapel a few anglers starting to find the fish 11-20 meters is the targeted area, as both pole and tip anglers benefiting, roach ,perch and skimmers all showing on this line, dark mixes of ground bait with single pinkie or maggot fished over the top for best results. Nets to double figures being reported. Browns -Railway Bridge a few more fish showing than of late odd catches of small roach, but mainly small skimmers and perch showing. Piggeries-Denver, slower sport at this end of the Ouse, very few roach showing and only a couple of skimmers reported , Little Ouse, anglers started to gather on this formidable winter venue, still a bit of weed around but plenty of fish showing, roach, rudd dace, bleak all falling to pinkie and maggot bigger stamp of fish showing on seed baits, nets to over 17lb reported. Shepherds Port, Bear lake starting to slow down as anglers start to disappear to there winter retreats, still a few pasties showing and the odd bigger carp to 5lb reported. Shepherds Lake, could be another good winter venue as skimmers roach and rudd still feeding strongly with nets continuously showing to over 12lb Other News Fish Legal acting on behalf of KLAA have now successfully settled the civil action against a poacher, following the proceedings against one of three men arrested by police on 25th May 2008 at a makeshift camp set up on the banks of the Wissey from where they took fish illegally from the river over a number of days. During a hearing at Kings Lynn County Court on 7th October 2009, the defendant gave an undertaking – or sealed promise - to the Judge that he would not trespass or fish on the club’s waters at any time in the future. If found in breach of this undertaking, the defendant could face a charge of contempt of court which carries with it, the possibility of a prison sentence. We would like to thank the Fish Legal team for their efforts on this case. After a long and drawn out set of negotiations with the Ryston Estate and Hilgay Parish Council, KLAA have been unable to reach suitable agreement on renewing the lease on the river Wissey. This is a great loss to the Association, who has leased this river from the Estate for the last 30 or so years. The root cause of the issue is the ownership of fishing rights in the village field, which is owned by the Feoffees charity and leased by Hilgay Parish Council. The previous leases had included this stretch of river, which attracts many anglers in the winter months and brought in much of the revenue to pay for the lease. With this stretch now affectively managed by the Parish Council, it was felt the existing river wasn’t value for money. We have however agreement from the Parish that KLAA members can fish the village field. |
