At last the season has begun for all the river men, rising fish showing on all the waters before the opening day anglers awaited with anticipation for the first catches of the new season.

Middle Level strangely very little fish showed on the the opening day but this did not deter the anglers from returning, catches reported from the level over the weekend as local rod Mark Smith found the fish with a net of over 80lb from the reaches of the upper level, his catch consisted mainly of skimmers up to a 1.5lb also a few small perch, also catches at peters on Sunday with nets to over 25lb reported tomorrows match stretch. elsewhere on the level reports have been slow coming to be reported.
Ten Mile Bank, has seen plenty of anglers about during the first few days catches of roach have been reported from the owl box with nets recorded to over 20lb, Browns farm and the Wissey Mouth have been the most popular venues , followed by the chapel stretch, fish being caught but anglers very hesitant in discussing weights and whereabouts.
Tottenhill a very popular venue where the carp are being targeted, but the carp can be caught but not always landed, biggest carp reported this week was a 12lb 9oz common, caught on a method feeder using corn on the hook.Bream also showing on the method feeder but worm on the hook for best results.
Shepherds port, Bear lake alot more fish being caught now that the fish have stopped spawning, pellet on the hook with small micros for feed, also corn tight to the island and margin for better results. nets to over 59lb recorded.
Shepherds Lake, been the most consistant fishery so far since the opening with all species showing on all methods, carp on the method, bream on a cage feeder, roach, rudd on the waggler, skimmers bream and carp also showing on the pole lines. very busy during the last week but plenty of catches over 45lb reported.
Queens lake still very quite of late as the bream anglers move away to the rivers, for those who are fishing this lake the bream are still hungry for the feed with fish meal based ground bait working well when presenting  a worm on the hook.
KKAA OPEN MATCH tomorrow Peters Bridge, draw 6:30 fish 8:till 1:00 peg fee £3.00 , pools optional £7.00 to book a place contact CHUD Harris on 07506703161. Juniors welcome.
Junior news, the youngsters of Lynn were in action at the weekend in the 1st national of the year, the team finished a very creditable 7th place , all the anglers worked extremely hard but unfortunately too many anglers were on the lakes for the venue to fish to its true potential.
Dave Watkin would like to express his thanks and gratitude to KLAA for allowing him to use shepherds lake for his charity match in aid of the air ambulance appeal.
