Reports were received over the weekend that the first 100 lb net has come out of bear lake during the last week, plenty of pasties showing during the week , but the bigger fish now starting to feed strongly as they are coming to an end of the spawning.
Committee members gathered on Saturday and some good nets of fish were recorded. The bigger stamp fish were taking the baits on offer but due to a very cold easterly wind blowing down the lake presentation was hard to place a bait in the right place, all anglers caught and were very pleased with the condition that the fish were in.
Shepherds Lake, another very good week was had by anglers who fished this lake, pleasure catches to over 73lb recorded in the early part of the week, this mainly consisted of bream and carp but a few surprises were also thrown in the mix with 3 crucians all over 2 1/2 lb and a tench to nearly 6lb was recorded in the haul, Nets to 35lb being the average on this lake, which consists of crucians, tench, carp, bream, skimmers , roach and rudd. Also a few eels have also been caught during the last week.
Queens lake, has been quite quiet during the last week with only a handful of anglers about on this lake, reports have been slow coming forward , a few bream have been showing on the tip but no weights have been reported.
Ken Hill, another venue which has been quiet during the last week, during the week a few anglers about but cold easterly winds over the weekend kept the anglers away. Nets to 17lb reported Monday/Tuesday.
Tottenhill, more fish being caught now that the spawning is drawing to a close , but one thing is catching, the other is landing them , so not many being landed and recorded.
Plenty of anglers being snapped off from all over the lake as the carp are feeding aggressively from all areas of the lake. Bream are showing in the open water but taking a liking to the method feeder when using corn on the hook. The odd tench also starting to appear in the margins during early morning or evening sessions.
