Shepherds Port, bear lake catch rates down on this little donut lake as the carp are spawning , but plenty of the small pasties showing, some of the bigger carp did show earlier in the week but as the temperatures rose the fish stared to shy away from the baits on offer. never the less plenty of anglers about during the week and weekend. Queens lake, quite quiet this week with only a handful of anglers about bream still showing on the tip, nets to over 46lb reported. Ken Hill, a few more anglers about during the last week, plenty of roach and rudd reported, the odd tench also making an appearance during the early morning session or late afternoon. nets to over 26lb reported. pinkie, maggot, and bread for best results. Shepherds Lake, been very busy all week, with anglers reporting some good nets,to over 40 lb on pleasure sessions. a few crucia ns also reported this week to over 2lb. Sunday saw the 1st match of the season for KLAA anglers, The match was held on Shepherds Lake , attendances was slightly down as this venue had been requested by many of the match men during last seasons matches. 13 anglers took part. it was also nice to see new anglers having a go on the match front. 1st place was Mark Grange with a mixed bag 19lb 12oz of 1 carp ,2 bream , skimmers roach and rudd 2nd place went to junior angler Kirsty Reed 18lb 2oz comprising of 2 carp and 4 bream, and the odd silver fish. 3rd place was Dale Robson, with 2 carp to form a net of 14lb 10oz, biggest fish was one of Dales at just over 10lb.4th place was another junior angler Damien Evans with 11lb 8oz of all small silvers. Bear Lake will be closed on Saturday for a committee match draw 7.30 fish 9:00 till 2:00 lake will reopen to all anglers at 3:00 pm. Tottenhill, another venue which has been affected by spawning fish during the later stages of the week.but still plenty of fish about if you can land them. a couple of tench did show in an evening session on Tuesday, best haul reported was 9 carp caught biggest just over 8lb 6oz the rest between 5-7lb. all caught on a method feeder. a few bream also made an appearance in the open water at the front of the island, all in all a very good 1st week of the season from Tottenhill, signs are very encouraging once the fish finnish spawning.
