The action continues to gather pace at Shepherds Port, with anglers catching well on all of the lakes. Shepherds lake performing well with carp showing more frequently and the bream starting to move away from the centre of the lake, bream caught on the 11 metre pole line, feeding ground bait from the start and fishing the chop on the hook, whilst firing caster over the top, this method also proved beneficial by bringing in the bigger roach and rudd, nets to over 60 lb reported midweek and the week end proved just as fruitful. plenty of skimmers taking the maggot baits, although being bullied out from the roach and rudd.
Bear lake, plenty of fish now starting to feed more, as the temperatures start to slowly rise, windy conditions have hampered the anglers but the majority of anglers have been catching steadily. no massive have weights reported this week but catch rates are up. Ken Hill producing plenty of roach and rudd with the odd tench also putting in an appearance, pole or whip methods working well bread and maggot being the favoured baits. Tottenhill opens tomorrow, swims have been cut, platforms repaired and the waters look very inviting. always take time to look at the notice board for up to date information on the fishery's bans. Also could all anglers take home their unused bait rather than throw it in at the end as this helps to maintain a healthy fishery. Reminder; No KEEPNETS allowed at TOTTENHILL. Queens Lake providing good bream fishing but when the winds blow the bream show, they don't seem to like the water still. but as the winds gathered pace during the week and the weekend plenty of bream were about. Nets to 45lb are becoming quite common, as young Jordan Brown found recently. Even his father is taken a liking to catching these specimen slabs.
