What a week at shepherds port

The early season form continues at Shepherds Port as anglers on all three lakes are reaping their rewards with good  hauls reported from all the lakes. Morning sessions and evening sessions bearing the fruits on Queens Lake with hauls reported to over 70lb all catches were on the tip over a bed of ground bait, with a worm presented on the hook  best results on this method were found by using a long tail away from the feeder.

Evening sessions are proving useful with some big slabs showing over 7lb also plenty of skimmers to over a pound, but these can cause a nuisance when targetting the bigger fish but you will eventually feed off the little skimmers allowing the bigger fish to move in.

Bear lake, good nets now being recorded regularly as the fish now start to feed more dominantly, plenty of pasties showing and some of the bigger fish now responding to the baits on offer, pellet, maggot and corn working well on the pole lines, waggler working well also in open water. Nets to over 50lb becoming more frequent.

Shepherds Lake, fishing very well with nets of mixed fish reported, carp showing on corn and pellet and bream also moving in on the carp feed, nets to over 60 lb reported all on the feeder, skimmers and bream also showing on the pole line along with roach and rudd to a pound, over a fine mix of ground bait with some 1mm pellet added whilst using red maggot on the hook.

Next week review of October & November 08.
