Season Review, June - Aug 08

TMB, early signs of a good season ahead looked promising after the first couple of weeks, as plenty of fish were reported ,Big nets of bream, skimmers and tench were all reported in the early weeks of the season, nets to over 70lb recorded from the great ouse. Local rod Mark Smith got of to a flyer on the opening day with a haul of 17 bream and 2 tench, even the youngsters were in on the action as young Alex Dowe landed a tench to 7lb 4oz , his personal best , Nick Wright also gained 2 personal bests with 2 bream one after the over firstly a 7lb 8oz fish followed by a 8lb 3oz , Even the klaa bailiffs got in on the action as Les Barton had a haul of bream and tench. so all the indications were there for a promising season ahead.

Middle Level, The level having its best start to the season for a couple of years as anglers up and down the level seemed to find the fish. St Marys became the early season hot spot with tench to 8lb showing and bream and skimmers in abundance to form nets of 62lb , even the odd carp was reported along with an early season zander of over 10lb on this end of the level, Peters also started off brightly with nets of skimmers and roach to over 26lb on the pole lines of the match stretch.

Crocked Chimney and Neepes were also featuring regularly with some big hauls of bream and skimmers with nets to 70lb reported also plenty of quality perch and the odd big tench reported from these prolific stretches. Strangely the level became the inform river at the beginning of the season and through till  the end of august.

Shepherds port also got off to a great start on both queens lake and  shepherds lake with bream showing on both lakes  queens lake nets reported to over 60lb and shepherds lake nets to 55lb. Both lakes feeder tactics were used to produce the bigger nets , Bear lake seemed to start slowly and became a very hit and miss venue , anglers tried in vain but some were rewarded with some good catches. afternoon and evening  sessions proved more successful than the early mornings.

Tottenhill started off very brightly in the early part of the season with some good catches and some good weights recorded , Young Jordan Brown had some great catches on this water and also entered his first match whilst fishing for the junior squad against a select dynamite baits team ,Jordan became the star of the show and amassed the biggest weight of the match.

Nets to over 80lb were reported and the biggest fish recorded in the early part of the season was just over 15lb .
