542lb of Carp Bear LakeKLAA will re-open it's Shepherds Port complex of 4 lakes from Saturday the 11th April.Bear Lake Restocking

This follows a winter of surveys and restocking program on Bear and Shepherds lakes. Following last summers seemingly poor catch returns on Bear Lake the committee decided to survey the lake to understand the fish population.  Over 500lb of quality carp where netted which cleary placed the fish population in the high end of fish density. It was decided that the larger fish be transferred to Shepherds lake and the lake restocked with smaller carp to create an fishery with fish density matching that of the top commerical venues, about 1000lb per acre.

So here's hoping that 2009 will bring success.
