Another dull early part of the week as temperatures continued to stay low both day and night, also as the snow finally starts to disappear the water levels in all the klaa waters has increased. RIVER WISSEY, again plenty of fish being caught from around the bridges during the early part of the week but as flows increased and temperatures starting to climb during the later stages of the week and into the weekend this moved the fish away from the sanctuary of the bridges. Therefore more fish were found in the meadow stretch and slightly more upstream from the a10 bridge. Roach and dace were the main targeted species but a few perch and skimmers were also found with nets recorded to 14lb during the weekend. LITTLE OUSE, another venue which has fished well throughout the colder conditions, and continued to maintain the action during the last week. Bleak, dace, roach, and rudd showing on the pole line and whip, heavy ground bait fed little and often and fished with pinkie and squat on the hook was the key to finding the fish, and holding them in the swim nets to 11lb 9oz reported. TEN MILE BANK, at last a few coarse anglers about during the weekend as conditions improved, anglers did have to tackle the flow running through and pole methods were not ideal in presenting baits, Heavy feeders were used to try to hold bottom, but only a few anglers were successful in finding the fish, no weights were reported at time of going to press. Predator anglers were at Browns Farm and at Wissey Mouth only small jacks reported from both stretches. MIDDLE LEVEL, A venue which has been affected by the weather as flows continue to run through and pumping has been hard to get rid of the excess water caused by the snow. Only a handful of anglers about during the week and no reports have been received this week. SHEPHERDS PORT- TOTTENHILL, Ice and snow have disappeared from these still waters and hopefully the silver fish will start to feed More confidently. Only the odd couple of anglers have ventured onto these waters and Shepherds lake producing plenty of silvers, roach, rudd, skimmers all looking for the maggot baits on offer. Tottenhill, only 1 small carp reported and plenty of silvers for those who braved the conditions of last week. The juniors from Klaa were in action last week in round 5 of the east coast winter league, fished on the river steeping in Wainfleet (SKEGNESS) all the juniors fished well on a small drain of only just over 2 feet deep. Tom Cockle finished in 2nd place overall with 6lb 9oz and Kirsty Reed was 3rd overall with 6lb 5oz, this gained the team valuable points and with other anglers scoring this moved them up the league into 2nd place with 3matches still to fish. Next leg is March 15th at Dents fishery Hilgay. KLAA OPEN MATCH Saturday 21st February CUT OFF CHANNEL. draw 8:30 am CUT OFF Car Park. Match fee is free but small pools will be optional on day.
