Sundays match was the last open of the year for the KLAA match men. After Saturdays downpours a heavy tow was running through modney bridge on the match stretch, the majority of the anglers reached into the rod bags for there feeder rods as the flow was to fierce to present a float on the pole line, some even struggled to hold bottom using a heavy feeder as the flow of water gathered pace. Paul Wright was 1st, 2nd Place went to Chud Harris 3rd Darren Reed. Elswwhere on Ten Mile Bank, very few anglers about all week as the cold snap continued, only a handful of fish were caught with no real catches reported, the odd skimmer, roach and tench did make an appearance but not to form any sustainable weight. Danby Drove is the most popular place on TMB at the moment as anglers continue to find some decent catches of roach and small skimmers. River Wissey, quite busy during the last week with both river men and predator anglers, the river men being more successful with good catches of roach rudd skimmers and perch. No reports received from the predator anglers. Little Ouse still the inform river of the moment as anglers continue to catch well from this well known winter venue. Seed baits now starting to drop off but maggot baits producing the weights. Nets to 23lb reported. Middle Level, another venue which has struggled to produce some good quality catches.Only a small number of roach and perch have shown at Crooked Chimney and at Neepes. Predator anglers have also struggled but some have found there targeted species at the High Road. Relief Channel, has also started to show a few more fish than of late with some good catches to 25lb reported bream, roach and perch being the majority of fish caught. Tottenhill/Bear lake as temperatures have still been very cold, the carp have gone of the food, however the silvers are now taking the maggot baits on offer. KLAA would like to wish all its members a very happy Christmas and a prosperous new year for 2009. The KLAA committee would like to wish Mark Smith a very speedy recovery, and get well soon, and look forward to seeing him back on the bank when he is fully fit in 2009. |
