Little Ouse, this river continues to fish well with some massive hauls to nearly 33lb reported during Thursday and Friday, during the weekend the venue was busy with plenty of anglers all reporting good solid net weights to 20lb, plenty of roach, rudd, dace, chublets and perch, roach to over a lb taken on the whip using seed and maggot. Also a couple of rainbow trout to 2.5lb took a liking to the baits on offer. River Wissey another hot spot winter venue fished very well during the week but tailed off over the weekend as the flows picked up after the heavy rainfall. nets to 18lb reported in the early part of the week , roach being the main target falling to punched crumb.reports of a sea trout to 3lb have also been confirmed. Ten Mile Bank, at last plenty of colour in the water and plenty of roach being caught at Modney Bridge well up to the beginning of the weekend. nets to 11lb recorded, the weekend proved to be very tricky as the flows picked up, some skimmers and bream were showing more towards the chapel. Browns farm to the Wissey mouth, catch rates were up on this stretch as a few tench have shown as have the bream, roach and some big perch. bait droppers working well to get the bait down as the flows increase but the fish are feeding closer as the water colours up. best results were on the pole line at 9 to 11 metres. Wissey Mouth to Denver no reports received. Cut Off Channel, at last some fish have been reported, from this old winter favourite, a few tench and some odd roach have started to show from midway down the channel. Middle Level, concerns are starting to arise from the level as the water levels have dropped by nearly 4ft and now reports of american signal crayfish at St Germans end this is concerning for all who fish the level. Catch rates have started to drop on this normally fair venue. Jordan Chandler 16 managed to land a 14lb pike at the Wiggenhall end of the level during a long session looking for zander. Neeps is now becoming quite patchy with only a few skimmers and perch to report, elsewhere up the level a few tench and the odd bream have shown but no real consistency is being shown from the more favourable stretches. Tottenhill has not been showing its form off late but this is because of the blue algae in the water , the EA have been consulted and are currently working alongside club secretary Ash Brown with the monitoring of this water. Anglers who fish this water please make sure you wash your hands after you have fished and don't place your hands near the mouth whilst fishing. Shepherds Port, still continuing to fish well on both Queens lake and Shepherds lake with fish being caught on both lakes, Bear lake continues to struggle and Ken Hill is not assessable with a car as the land has became to boggy. Please note that this is the last weekend that Queens lake and Ken Hill can be fished these lakes close on Sunday evening. KLAA Open Match Sunday at Little Ouse. Draw at 8:30 am at the bridge. match fees £2.00 + £8.00 pools plus optional super pool.To book a place or any information contact Dave Burton 01366387870. |
