Kayleigh Williams bags joint 2nd place in ladies national
Kings Lynn junior superteam member Kayleigh Williams finished in 2nd place in the ladies national at Melton Mowbray on Saturday. She was up against the best female anglers from all around the country. Kayleigh showed them the way on this f1 venue. Kayleigh was only beaten by one other angler and came joint 2nd with England ladies captain Sandra Scothorne, they both weighed in 44lb , whilst the winner weighed in with 48lb. This is Kayleigh,s best achievement so far and for the local rod this also means an automatic entry into next years ladies fish o mania at the new location of Cudmore fishery. Middle Level: continues to be the inform river of the moment as anglers continue to catch from all the popular places along the level, skimmers,bream,roach and tench showing on most stretches. Crooked Chimney producing the bigger net weights to 43lb. Saturdays KLAA open was held at Peters on the level were 23 anglers took part. With really bright sunshine and barely any wind conditions was not going to be ideal. However local rod Mark Smith made the most from the conditions and took the honours with 12lb 6oz. Results. 1st Mark Smith 12lb 6oz 2nd Steve Hansed 6lb 3oz 3rd M. Whittom5lb 10oz. Ten Mile Bank: still very patchy for the silvers although more anglers are trying to tempt the fish into the nets, Carp showing at the mouth but then so is the odd bream much to the carp anglers frustrations as they are hoovering the baits laid down for the carp. Railway Bridge to Browns Farm producing a few tench and some good quality perch. Only a handful of roach showing at Modney. Tottenhill: started to slow off during the heat of the midday sun but as the temperatures rise, morning and evening sessions are bearing the fruits. Anglers catching well during these sessions. All methods working well, Corn paste and meat being the productive bait. Best carp of the week was an 11lb 6oz common. Nets to 78lb recorded. Relief Channel: Saddlebow to Denver producing some good nets as the fish continue to top and blow on the more popular stretches.But finding them is the key to some very good quality net weights. Shepherds Port: very busy during the last week, all lakes are producing but shepherds lake is the more prolific lake for some good pleasure nets, Bear lake patchy as the temperatures rise but morning and evening sessions proving more successful.
