A note from the Treasurer – Mark Harding

Following the increase in permit prices for the 2009 season I thought it would be appropriate to give an insight into how your money is spent.  We generally try to ensure our expenditure matches our income each year which incidentally is in the region of £45000 per annum.  However, increased running costs and the dramatic cut in interest saving rates lead the committee to approve an increase to permits this coming season (the first rise in 2 years).  So how is the money spent? The bulk of expenditure is as follows:

PAYE, Honorariums, Mileage      £16000
Lease Waters£10000
Landscaping/Materials   £3500
Printing/Stationary     £2600
Solicitors/Accountants     £2500
Insurance/Subscriptions   £1600
Toilet Hire SP/Tottenhill      £1500

Whilst many running costs are set, each month expenditure is reviewed and approved to ensure transparency.  This past season permit sales have remained buoyant although match bookings have declined as we compete with commercial fisheries, hence the decision to add further stock to Bear lake and transfer the larger carp into Stantons lake at Shepherds Port.  Rest assured KLAA are committed to providing quality angling for all regulars and visitors alike, at what is after all a very reasonable price.  If you don’t think so then look into the cost of joining a golf club for a year!
