Since the juniors victory in the Lincolnshire championships, the teams have been working hard throughout the Autumn and Winter with the start of the East Coast Winter League, September saw the start of the league with a tough encounter away at Lincoln on the Fossdyke canal. On arrival at the venue, what greeted the young anglers was a green mass of blanket weed stretching the full width of the canal and at length, over a mile on the match stretch. After the Merger with the Holbeach team and the inclusion of new anglers Lynn managed to field 2 very strong teams, early indications of fish showing from under the weed was encouraging with a few tiny roach breaking the surface weed. The Lynn team were very quick to capitalise on this and they all went into there tackle box sorting out there heavier floats, 1.5 gramme floats were placed on top kits to enable the bait to get through the surface weed. The teams took a commanding early lead with all anglers starting to catch fish, eventually other teams got wind of what was being achieved and started to catch also, but to Lynns early advantage they managed to hold off the challenge and finish with a solid hard earned victory. RESULTS, 1st Tom Cockle 4lb 6oz, followed by Section wins for Kirsty Reed and Gary Harris. Damien Evans 2nd in Section.Lynn 5 points, Lincoln 9 points, Boston 15, points, Holbeach 17 points, and Lincoln B 21 points , Boston B 24 points. The 2nd leg of the east coast winter league was held at Lynns own Shepherds Port, SHEPHERDS LAKE . A firm favourite with the Lynn squads as the youngsters were looking to gain a convincing victory on our own waters. But things don’t always go to plan with a bad draw by both teams, Tom Cockle started very brightly by landing a 6lb carp virtually from the off, he was closely followed by Harry Blackmur who was sitting in the next peg landing a 4lb 9oz carp, elsewhere across the lake silvers were being caught by most of our nearest rivals, as the wind started to blow gently across the lake, conditions started to improve for the anglers on the far side of the lake with silvers being caught frequently on the pole lines, Lynn included new angler Toby Pepper, who started to catch silvers but was out done from pegs around him. Gary Harris also struggled early on as a pole break proved costly, but he continued to fish although a change from pole to feeder didn’t reward his gallant effort. RESULTS, 1ST Tom Cockle, 8lb 5oz, 4th Harry Blackmur 5lb 5oz Teams 1st Lincoln 7 points, Lynn 2nd 8 points, Overall positions after 2 rounds, 1st Kings Lynn 13 points, 2nd Lincoln 16 points, 3rd Boston 27 points, 4 th Holbeach 29 points. |

Another year has almost passed for the juniors of klaa, although this year we have had no individual champions, in the national fixtures we have picked some silver ware along the way, In the early part of the year we maintained our progress throughout the winter and managed to hold on to a top 3 position in the east coast winter league, as a club is was very encourageing to field new anglers throughout the winter series, Alex Dowe and Harry Blackmur joined the ranks and were quickly upto speed on the match scene. After some tough trips away at Lincoln and Boston the final was drawing near. In April the final at Decoy was an encouraging affair with Lynn holding joint 3rd place with rivals Lincoln,Lynn angler Kirsty Reed scooping the individual prize on the day with a net of 44lb 6oz , only for the team to miss finishing 2nd overall by a mere couple of ounces. Winter league team was Kirsty reed, Tom Cockle, Gary Harris, Damian Evans, Harry Blackmur, Alex Dowe. On the individual scene Kirsty Reed finished in 3rd place Tom Cockle 4th place and Damien Evans 6th place. I would personaly like to thank all the anglers who have contributed so well this year and have worked extremely hard in achieving are positions throughout all the matches. Thanks to all the parents for taking the time out to travel to and from the matches and their continued support, also thanks to KLAA and all of our sponsors FOSTER REFRIGERATION,SHAKESPEARE, DYNAMITE BAITS. |

October saw the start of the East Coast again with a tough away trip on the Fossdyke Canal at Lincoln, the canal in some parts was unfishable with duck weed covering the entire canal, only when the boats came through this created a channel to fish, but the Lynn team were quick to realise that if they got there bait down under the weed the fish were there. So they all mounted there tackle boxes in search of heavier floats, once selected and the fish being caught there was no looking back for the lynn teams, 1st Tom Cockle, section wins for Kirsty Reed , Gary Harris, and Damien Evans picking up a 2nd in section this gave the Lynn team a well deserved victory. Lynn Squads, Tom Cockle, Kirsty Reed, Gary Harris, Damien Evans, blue squad, Rocky Murley, Harry Backmur, Brendan Strowlger also won section, The next east coast match was fished at our own Shepherds Port venue, again Lynn dominated with Tom Cockle continuing were he left of in the last round and won the match, Kirsty Reed and Damien Evans picking up section wins also Harry Blackmur captured a section win. So far Lynn are currently leading the east coast winter league , but as the season goes on will Lynn continue to lead the way. |

September Junior National, Lindholme Lakes Doncaster. Back to the venue for the 2nd time in successive nationals but this time every lake was available for both the junior and intermediate anglers, We entered 2 teams of intermediates as juniors were hard to come by , but the juniors who fished and were giving away 4-6 years to the older anglers were not outdone by any means Harry Blackmur fished a solid match and finished 4th in his section but finished a fantastic 6th place overall as the top 3 weights came from this section. Gary Harris also fished strongly for the lynn team unfortunately conditions did play a major factor on the day as wind got up to near 35mph and temperatures dropped to a mere 15 degrees not ideal for fishing these kind of waters. Lynn Squads for the national were, Reece Dillamore, Tom Cockle, Damian Evans, Harry Blackmur, Rocky Murley, Brendan Strowlger, and James Wright. |

Challenge National, Grand Union Canal Milton Keynes. A venue which we were all waiting for as many of the squad had fished this venue before, Lynn fielding another newcomer to the side was young Toby Pepper, Lynn fielded another 2 intermediate teams just to make sure everyone who wanted to fish actually fished, I made the decision to fish the younger anglers in one team and keep the more experienced team together rather than mixing it around, As the draw approached we had time for a quick team meeting were tactics were discussed and what lines to fish and after a bit of good humoured banter off to the pegs we went, for our first sighting of the canal. Both teams drew well and in the early stages of the match, the Lynn teams were finding the fish, Toby had drawn a tough section and either side of him were England intermediate anglers, he was not dispondant to the challenge and eventually convincingly beating both anglers around him and actually taking a well earned section win. Harry Blackmur and Rocky Murley also fished very well and finished very high up in the section for some valuble team points, Brendan Strowlger was the other team angler for the youngsters but conditions and lack of fish in the swim despite trying every option available, points were hard to come by in the toughest area. A fantastic team 4th position was picked by the youngsters and were only a mere couple of grammes from picking up 3rd spot. The elder statesman of the team found the going tough with very few fish around and just picking up the odd fish, But Gary Harris, managed to fish a tidy line to finish well up in his section, this was supported by Tom Cockle , Reece Dillamore and Damien Evans for a 7th place position. |
