Since the juniors victory in the Lincolnshire championships, the teams have been working hard throughout the Autumn and Winter with the start of the  East Coast Winter League, September saw the start of the league with a tough encounter away at Lincoln on the Fossdyke canal. On arrival at the venue, what greeted the young anglers was a green mass of blanket weed stretching the full width of the canal and at length, over a mile on the match stretch.

After the Merger with the Holbeach team and the inclusion of new anglers Lynn managed to field 2 very strong teams, early indications of fish showing from under the weed was encouraging with a few tiny roach breaking the surface weed. The Lynn team were very quick to capitalise on this and they all went into there tackle box sorting  out there heavier floats, 1.5 gramme floats were placed on top kits to enable the bait to get through the surface weed. The teams took a commanding early lead with all anglers starting to catch fish, eventually other teams got wind of what was being achieved and started to catch also, but to Lynns early advantage  they managed to hold off the challenge and finish with a solid hard earned victory.

RESULTS, 1st Tom Cockle 4lb 6oz, followed by Section wins for Kirsty Reed and Gary Harris. Damien Evans 2nd in Section.Lynn 5 points, Lincoln 9 points, Boston 15, points, Holbeach 17 points, and Lincoln B 21 points , Boston B 24 points.Tom Cockle

The 2nd leg of the east coast winter league was held at Lynns own Shepherds Port, SHEPHERDS LAKE .

A firm favourite with the Lynn squads as the youngsters were looking to gain a convincing victory on our own waters. But things don’t always go to plan with a bad draw by both teams, Tom Cockle started very brightly by landing a 6lb carp virtually from the off, he was closely followed by Harry Blackmur who was sitting in the next peg landing a 4lb 9oz carp, elsewhere across the lake silvers were being caught by most of our nearest rivals, as the wind started to blow gently across the lake, conditions started to improve for the anglers on the far side of the lake with silvers being caught frequently on the pole lines, Lynn included new angler Toby Pepper, who started to catch silvers but was out done from pegs around him. Gary Harris also struggled early on as a pole break proved costly, but he continued to fish although a change from pole to feeder didn’t reward his gallant effort.

RESULTS, 1ST Tom Cockle, 8lb 5oz,  4th Harry Blackmur 5lb 5oz Teams 1st Lincoln 7 points, Lynn 2nd 8 points,

Overall positions after 2 rounds, 1st Kings Lynn 13 points, 2nd Lincoln 16 points, 3rd Boston 27 points, 4 th Holbeach 29 points.
